Alas, I missed mine by 4 seconds although my Garmin said I ran a longer race (by 60 meters!!) than last year and had a quicker pace. Hmmmm?

I agree Susie, well done everyone, it’s a tough course especially that terrible climb from the Howe to the summit of Carnethy. Special congratulations to Duncan, 1st V50 and 1st Harrier, Richard Osman in his first Carnethy 5 for the Harriers, and Sarah Blake in her first Carnethy 5. Congrats also to Andy for a series of superb photos.

Teams are possible, so am trying to persuade Gordon to do the cycling part in the next February duathlon.

Congratulations to our lads on a very creditable performance in Penicuik Harriers first attempt at the Devil’s Burden Relay (38th out of 123 teams). I tried to get a few folk interested in the DB 10 or 15 years ago but failed miserably. It’s a geat bit of country, a wee bit hilly here and there, but great running. There are 3 hill races using the Fife Lomonds, Bishop Hill Race from Scotlandwell on 4 March (excellent soup), Falkland Hill Race up and down East Lomomd provisionally on 17 June, and the Lomonds of Fife in late August. I’m sure that our girls could get a team together for next year’s Devil’s Burden. Congrats to Kirsty who ran the 4th leg for the Carnethy girls this year.

yes – our legs were strangely achy as well.
Most of us were generally slower than previous years which probably reflected the boggy bog!

Congrats to Duncan for looking so youthful ?

Like Susie I haven’t seen any results but I can tell you that Duncan was 1st over 50 and was rewarded with lots of bottles of Greenmantle. Well done Duncan!

Training is still on its Xmas break and doesn’t resume until Tues 10th January, when you are more than welcome to come along to either the Tues or Thurs session.

Well done Kirsty making the summit of Carnethy against that terrible wind. Dave and I didn’t make it due to injuries but others did start off towards the hill. Whether they got there we don’t know – no reports of other successful climbs as yet.

I think I prefer two and a half feet of snow! It took considerable effort to scrub the mud and sheep poo off my legs and more effort to get it off my shoes. I didn’t realise that we had gone off course by mistake – I just thought that the organisers had shortened the course to avoid even more mud (and to avoid installing gang ways and hand rails). It was welcome though as I was a long way off ‘whippet’ mode.
