A total of 90 runners enjoyed the crisp, sunny weather at this year’s Greenmantle Dash in Broughton. We also had 11 hardy juniors doing the fun run through the icy burn. The senior race was also treated to an impromptu sheep conga line, adding to usual obstacles of rivers, boggy fields, ice and steep incline/declines! Check out the video on photographer Michael Philp’s Facebook page, along with lots of great pictures of our runners on the day.
Congratulations to our race winners Ali Masson and Grace Pow (both Carnethy Hill Running Club) who received locally made sweet treats, provided by Broughton Village Store. Category winners were awarded beer from the local brewery, Broughton Ales. The Michael Greens Trophy (awarded to the runner who best embodies the spirit of our late club mate) was awarded to Finlay Smith this year for forgetting to bring his race number to the start, something Michael did more than once! Results for this year’s race are here: (link will follow once results are uploaded to SHR website)
After the race runners enjoyed delicious hot soup provided by Penicuik Storehouse and home baking from our cake sale, which raised an impressive £86. We will increase that from our race profits to donate in total £150 to Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue, our local mountain rescue team and £150 to Youth Vision.
Thank you to everyone who came to run, support or help this year. Our dedicated team of volunteers made the day go so smoothly and we are grateful to each and every one of them. Thank you also to our local supporters and landowners, without whom this race would not be possible.
See you in 2026!
