Penicuik 10k – 40th Anniversary

We had 204 runners on the start line and for the first time ever we had a Penicuik Harrier win our race!!! It was Fantastic to have some of the people who set the very first Penicuik 10k race up and who also ran in the first race too – a very proud day for our club to have Colin and Anna Graham, Neil Robertson and David Cairns with us today. Colin and Anna were running!!

We extend our sincere appreciation to our volunteers, sponsors, and spectators whose contributions were invaluable in making this event possible. Locally we use Inspired by Tweed for our trophy coasters, they work right up to event days ensuring we have what we need.  Colorprinz printed the numbers and lots of other printing needs that we had and again worked quickly for us.  This year we had voucher prizes from Flowers by Lindsey, Fran Jones Massage Therapy, Lauren Scott Health and Wellness, Pentland Retreat and Brew 52 –  these are real treats for those that win them.  Our bigger sponsors are Nicol brothers,  Carnethy Woodfuel, Johnston Carmichael and Blast Running who lent us lots of equipment and gave us race vouchers as prizes. CALA Homes came on board this year and sponsored our commemorative medals – a wonderful contribution to our event.

It goes without saying, the support of Police Scotland is invaluable. Midlothian Council ensure that we can close roads, have parking restrictions in place, have barriers and cones positioned and basically are the reason that our race gets to run through the town.  Scottish Athletics provide our permit and the officials on the day which means that we are a respected and trusted race in the racing calendar.

We are very lucky to have as one of our club members a very talented photographer in Michael Philp. He was out on the route and at the finish-line, I will share the link to his photos on our facebook page and website when I get it.

Our fundraiser for Broomhill Day Centre has done very well £452 so far  – I will update the facebook page and website with the totals – you can still donate here Just Giving    We have always raised money to support charities that have helped our club members and this year you have helped us achieve this incredible amount.
