Junior race is for FREE
Senior race: Entry cost: £8
The race registration cost has increased this year as the Pentland Land Managers Association have imposed a £5 “donation” per runner. The PLMA pledge that funds raised will be used on biodiversity or infrastructure projects within the Pentlands.
There is also a yellow donation box near the Pentland Hills cafe (near registration). This raises money for the Pentland Hills Regional Park (PHRP). If you drive to the race, we would welcome a donation as they are currently upgrading the carpark. Thanks.

The senior Turnhouse Hill race (5.2kms, 310 metres) is a traditional hill race suited for all runners with hill running experience. Although relatively short, the main ascent and descent to/from the summit are steep so hill shoes are advised. The route is mostly tracked although the steep climb up to the summit is through heather.
The junior race has been extended a little for 2023. It is a short out and back route but we now go slightly higher up Turnhouse: ca. 2.2kms, 160 metres) – see map below.
The race start is a few minutes jog up the glen road from the Flotterstone car park (NT229631).
Please follow the track through the woodland
Registration (number collection) is near the Pentland café at the Flotterstone car park (EH26 0PR or NT232630) within the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The race start is a few mins walk/jog away through the trees – see above.Getting There
Travel to the race:
Please be responsible with respect to travelling to the race. We want the event to be as sustainable as possible, so please car share, use public transport or even cycle to the event.
Flotterstone Car Park is located just off the A702 just south of Edinburgh. Heading out of Edinburgh over the bypass at Lothianburn, bear right at the fork and after approx 2.5m/4km Flotterstone will be on your right. If you get to the new Mauricewood roundabout you’ve gone too far!
Number collection (from 6pm) is near the Pentland café at the Flotterstone car park (EH26 0PR or NT232630) within the Pentland Hills Regional Park.
Due to limited parking, it would be appreciated by the organisers if you could car share as much as possible.
There will be marshals assisting with car parking, please take advice from them regarding parking and follow their instructions.
The map below suggest potential (in blue) nearby “overflow” parking, but please park responsibly.
Take the number 101 or 102 (Houston buses): link
There are very limited public toilet facilities behind the Pentland café.
There are no changing and showering facilities available.
This race is run under SHR rules and although close to the longest day of the year, all runners must carry full body cover (weather conditions applicable) and a whistle. A compass is not needed as the course will be marshalled but you are advised to print a copy of the map although the route will be well marshalled.
