A proud day for Penicuik Harriers welcoming 148 runners to take part in our 41st 10k Road Race.
The weather was ‘perfect for running’ with no scorching heat for the first time in many years. With 148 runners on the start line and the roads all being held by the Police the runners were off through the town following the lead car. Our famous hill is the first challenge but once it was achieved there is a beautiful run through Howgate and the countryside before beginning the return back to Penicuik. The return is mostly downhill with a wee surprise near the end before a fantastic welcome into the field and the finish-line.
Our first male runner home was James Wright, Lothian RC in a time of 33m 12s closely followed by Max Meres , Edinburgh AC in 33m 36s and Jack Fullerton, Corstorphine AAC in 35m 15s.
Lynne Parry of Penicuik Harriers was our first female home in a time of 41m 44s, again closely followed by Nicola Allan, Portobello RC in 45m 20s and Alison Caldwell, also Portobello in 47m 06s.
The local prizes were won by Fraser christie and Lynne Parry with the teams being won by Lothian RC for the ladies and Portobello RC for the gents. Our results are available here 2026 Results and our category winners are here Category Winners
What has been most amazing to us as a club is the number of locals that entered our race! Out of 148 runners an incredible 56 of them were from Penicuik. This also included young people who had previously given out medals as little people.
A special thank you must also go to our outstanding team of marshals who gave up their time to not only support the event but also to provide baking for our charity baking stall. Allan Dunbar leads this team as well as driving the lead car, many thanks Allan.

We are also extremely grateful to St Andrew’s Ambulance for their professional support and reassurance throughout the event. Having their team on hand provided valuable medical cover for both runners and spectators.
Our thanks also go to Midlothian Council and Police Scotland for their assistance in providing manpower and equipment. But particularly to the Police for holding traffic and manning the road crossings along the course. Their cooperation and support played a vital role in ensuring the safety of everyone involved and helped the race operate with minimal disruption.
Many thanks also go to the sponsors of our race, supporting us with finances and vouchers to give as prizes. Ross Nicol of Nicol Bros went above and beyond in his duty as ‘Right Hand Man’ again this year, creating the wonderful podium again and being a great assistant at prize-giving.
The club members, thank you for just being you and brining you’re a game to this event. It requires great teamwork and an enthusiasm like no other for the weeks leading up to it and on the day. There are too many of you to mention individually but thank you for putting in that extra effort for the Penicuik 10k.
Finally, thank you to all spectators and supporters who cheered runners on around the course. Your encouragement makes a tremendous difference and contributes greatly to the spirit of the event.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year on Sat 8th May 2027.
