Well what can I say – meteorologists were somewhat off with their forecasts! We were welcomed with lashing rain, strong headwinds – saved for the uphills of course, and the cold. All at 9am in the morning. It was a game of 2 halves. The first part wasn’t too bad and the wind and hills were in our favour. But oh boy we paid for that with the second half. Uphill (and more uphill) in a headwind and horizontal rain required some “manning up”. I was hoping for around the 1 hour 50 mark but standing on the start line I was happy to just get round. But the Gods were smiling on me and I managed 1 hour 43 minutes and 35 seconds. Have had a quick look at the results as best as I can. Didn’t see anything of Mark until the end but then he did 1.25.48 . Think Julie came in on 2.15.09. Think I may have missed someone else off the list. Sorry but the results wouldn’t let me search under clubs. Well down fellow Harriers I salute you! Now for that wine!
Cheers
Lou

Well done Lou. When I arrived at the start line about forty minutes before the race it felt like the tornado scene from the Wizard of Oz!!! It was very wet and windy but it did seem to be in our favour for the first half of the race. That soon changed for the second half though. No sign of Dorothy or the Tinman on the course but a welcome relief and boost to see Dave Cairns to cheer us on around Duddingston.
I really enjoyed being able to run through the streets of Edinburgh again. Unlike the marathon which takes you east out of Edinburgh this race had you running along the Grassmarket and Princes Street. A great way to spend a Sunday morning. Cheers, Mark
Well done to all who did the Rock’n Roll. Sorry if I didn’t see everyone. I can definitly confirm how difficult conditions were having almost been blown off my bike a couple of times and headed home frozen earlier than I intended.
My goodness what weather to have to run a half in! Rain is okay but all that wind, what a shame. However it makes the achievement all the more when conditions are against you.
Hopefully all the sunshine was used up for Susan & Jamie’s wedding on Saturday!
