What a wonderful day at Dunbar: wall to wall sunshine and really quite warm. So warm in fact, that a fair number of runners cooled down in the sea; and I heard that one very brave chap called Mike Brooks … Continue reading →

Travelled down with fellow West Linton runners Sheena Livingstone and Helen Ryall to the 10th Jedburgh Half Marathon – this run is always a pleasure and Sunday was no exception. It’s well organised without being ‘fussy’ (although there is nae … Continue reading →

The last long hill race of the year, the Skyline (26.6km, 1600m) http://www.scottishhillracing.co.uk/RaceDetails.aspx?RaceID=RA-0107) is always my personal nemesis, but in the context of the Ochil2000s and Breweries, it is probably the easiest of the three. The difficulty of this race, … Continue reading →

Manor Water hill race (and sheep dog trials) It was drizzling when I got up, drizzling at Halfords, drizzling driving towards Peebles and still drizzling whilst I was getting changed into shorts. Shorts! However it wasn’t too cold or too … Continue reading →

My 16th Half and 4th visit to Haddington. Yes it is a bit hilly and yes it was rather hot but a great atmosphere, beautiful countryside (through fields and along green leafy tunnels), highly visible mile markers, medals, good sandwiches … Continue reading →

Two new Hill Races which may be of interest. First off – Callandar, run as part of the Towns Highland Games, a rather unique experience and a run that had it all, trails, hills, roads and even a river section … Continue reading →

Kevin Anderson and Gordon Campbell were representing Penicuik at this fifth road grand-prix race. The conditions were perfectly great with sunshine, mild and calm air. Runners lined up in the starting pen in the grounds of Loretto school playing fields. … Continue reading →

I saw very little of the race since I was confined to the start/finish field looking after two of my grandchildren. It was a fine evening and 3 Harriers completed the race, Paul Pollard in 15th place, followed by Kevin … Continue reading →
